Delhi- Delhi blends an historic past and a vibrant present. Many dynasties ruled from here and the city is rich in the architecture of its monuments. Diverse cultural elements absorbed into the daily life of city have enriched its character. Exploring the city can be a fascinating and rewarding experience.

Agra - Agra famous for the magnificent Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort. The Taj Mahal is an exquisite masterpiece in white marble. Built in 1648 by the famous Shah Jahan who was the fifth Mughal Emperor of India, in memory of his late wife Mumtaz Mahal. Both the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort lie in close proximity to each other on the banks of the Yamuna River.

Jaipur - Jaipur is a reservoir of the architectural wonders that embrace the rich legacy of India. It is also known as the Pink City and is the capital of the Rajasthan State. There are many forts and monuments in Jaipur that are worth seeing. In the heart of Jaipur, lies the magnificent City Palace. The sight of the amazing Hawa Mahal is a strong favourite amongst tourist wishing to see the wonders of Indian architecture. The Amber Fort is located in Jaipur. This Fort is stunning, all constructed in white marble and red sandstone. To add to its allure, the Maotha Lake creates its foreground. The crystal mirror image of the Fort, on the still waters of the lake, seem to be a beautiful illusion and provides a unique photographic opportunity.

Kathmandu – Kathmandu is historically known as Nepal Valley and it lies at the crossroads of ancient civilisations. It has at least 130 important monuments, including several prilgrimage sites and astonishingly, Kathmandu has seven World Heritage Sites within the valley. Kathmandu is a bowl-shaped valley, which is surrounded by four major mountain ranges.

N.B. There are several ways you can extend this tour with additional cultural sites, a stay near Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve or a visit to the world-famous Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, also known as Keoladeo National Park. Please contact us for details.

Delhi - Kathmandu Airfare Supplement: £91 per person (air fare may change at the time of Ticket issuance)

Mountain Everest Flight (OPTIONAL) approx £118
Enjoy the early morning Mount Everest Flight in Kathmandu, (subject to weather conditions) Fly to the highest mountain on Earth. No wonder mountain fly-bys have become a popular tourist attraction in Nepal. Much has already been written about Mt Everest itself, but to actually witness it face to face during a mountain flight is something else. Even while it looms there in front of the eyes, it remains an unbelievable sight - the highest place on earth!

Morning depart by taxi for Agra. (Approx 4 ½ hrs). Upon arrival check in at your hotel and have lunch (on direct payment). Agra stands on the right bank of the Yamuna River and was once the seat of the Mughal Rulers. A city enshrined in romance and famous for its beautiful medieval monuments. The passion of the Mughals for building endowed it with some of the loveliest buildings in the world. After lunch, visit the famous Taj Mahal, the seventh wonder of the world, built by Shah Jahan as a memorial to his wife Mumtaz Mahal by the banks of the Yamuna River. The Taj Mahal built in 1631- 1653, has been referred to as a poem in white marble. Taj Mahal means "Crown Palace" and is in fact the most well-preserved and architecturally beautiful tomb in the world. The dome is made of white marble, but the tomb is set against the plain across the river and it is this background that works its magic of colours that, through their reflection, change the view of the Taj. The colours change at different hours of the day and during different seasons. Like a jewel, the Taj sparkles in moonlight when the semi-precious stones inlaid into the white marble on the main mausoleum catch the glow of the moon. The Taj is pinkish in the morning, milky white in the evening and golden when the moon shines. Later in the afternoon, visit the Agra Fort. This too was built alongside the Yamuna River and stretches for almost 2.5 km. The fort contains splendid palaces both in red sandstone and white marble, built by two generations of prolific master builders. Of the nearly 500 Akbari buildings built in the Bengal and Gujarati traditions, only a few have survived, arrayed in a band on the riverfront.

Bhaktapur, the city of devotees, lies nine miles east of Kathamndu and its traditional crafts are pottery and weaving. At the Siddha Pokhari there is a historic reservoir near the city gate and it was built during the reign of King Yakshya Malla. At Durbar Square you will find innumerable temples and other architectural show pieces. The Lion Gate adorned with the splendid stone figures of Hanuman, Bhairab & Narsingha Narayan; The Golden Gate built by Raja Ranjit Malla, which is the entrance to the main courtyard of the Palace of Fifty-Five Windows. The door is surmounted by a figure of Goddess Kali and Garuda, the winged carrier of Lord Vishnu and attended by two sky nymphs. The Palace of Fifty Five Windows was erected during the reign of King Yaksha Malla in 1427 A.D. and was remodelled by King Bhupatindra Malla in the 17th century. Among the bricks of the walls, with their gracious setting and sculptural design is a balcony of 55 windows - a master piece of wood carving. On the way back to Kathmandu, stop at Pashupatinath Temple standing on the bank of the sacred Bagmati River, with its two-tier golden roof and silver doors. It is famous all over the world for its superb architecture. Entrance into the temple precincts is restricted to Hindus only. Only Hindus are allowed to go inside the courtyard of the temple. Therein, tourists and visitors can clearly see the temple and the activities from the eastern bank of the Bagmati River.
